I read the reviews on this before getting and new that it was going to be poorly written but didn't really understand how really BADLY written it was. I am not an English professor nor do I write perfectly, but I do know how to use spell check when writing things of importance. There were so many mistakes in this book that sometimes it really made it hard to read. I loved the story line and EMS/FD background to it, but I don't think I will ever read another book by this author. It did not take me long to read the book in its entirety so I believe that the author would have had plenty of time to read and re-read this book themselves before sending to publishing to catch most of the errors. Even a simple Word program would have caught most of the errors.Product details

Escaping The Shadows edition by Rebecca Erickson Felicia Souza Francell Gustason Professional Technical eBooks Reviews
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I only put it down when my body was forced to sleep and picked it right back up when I woke. I often find myself wondering "how would this book be from his/her prospective??" and with this book I did not have to ) The story line is easy to follow and really pulls you into the characters. It had just the right amount of everything... thrill, love, action. I truly loved this book and can't wait to see how the story unfolds in hopefully volume(s) to come. I hope the author maintains the multi-viewpoint way of writing... I love being able to connect with the characters ) Mighty fine work, let alone a first book. Definitely recommending to my friends!
I found this book really interesting. I really did enjoy it and had to keep reading to find out just how things would play out. I did notice the editing (or lack of), but enjoyed the story. SPOILER ALERT... Am I missing the ending SPOILER ALERT........ was that it - the ending "no one helped". I think this really could have used an Epilogue - six months later or something.
This could have been an absorbing story but there were errors in every paragraph misspelling, sentences incomplete, the usual inept use of apostrophes, pronouns, in short every error you can imagine and more. I struggled to read about 30%, then flipped to the end to conclude an agonizing read that could have been worth four stars, properly edited.
This novel had a decent if somewhat predictable plot but the novel was loaded with typos throughout that reflected a lack of thorough editing. Since it was downloaded for free I can't complain too much and it was captivating enough for me to finish it although I could predict in a general sense the ending - the bad guy gets what he deserves, the girl in the end gets the good guy,and all ends well although the ending is quite abrupt.
The story was good, that is the only reason I gave it one star. Where was the editor for this book? Was there an editor for this book???? It was so grammatically messed up that it took all my will power to finish the book. There had to have been at least two or more errors in each paragraph. It was the worst edited book that I have ever read. Some examples that I remember offhand Well come to the academy. ... into the bedroom room. I don't think there were was the correct usage of their, there, they're OR your, you're even once in the book. Drove me nuts.
Good premise, could have been a good book IF there had been an editor and a proofreader involved. Grammar was horrible! Punctuation was weirdly bad; most pronoun usage was wrong wrong wrong. I got so tired of reading "here" for "hear" and other such errors, it was difficult to follow the story at times. The beginning of the book was very sophomoric. The writing got a little better toward the end. Then - the end. I mean, the end just popped up out of nowhere! Very abrupt.
Oh, and if you're looking for a book about paramedics (as I was) - forget it. There is no mention of anything paramedics actually do. That was just a prop for the story line. The cover is totally misleading.
Escaping The Shadows by Rebecca Erickson is about a young woman named Samantha who finally has the courage to leave her abusive husband. Wanting to start afresh, Samantha moves out of the small town she grew up in. She rents an apartment and starts training for a new job. As the story progresses, you lose yourself as Samantha deals with a possessive ex-husband determine to punish her for leaving him. I loved this story. So many women face similar issues. I was very proud of Samantha and the choices she made. Living and facing the world on your own is not easy, but it sure beats living with someone who does not respect you and treats you like dirt beneath his feet.
